SMDD Biz Connect is a business matchmaking platform operated by Sinar Mas for participants of the Sinar Mas Digital Day (SMDD) event. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We process personal data in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (UU PDP).
Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to everyone who uses SMDD Biz Connect at businessconnect.sinarmas.com, including:
- Representatives of participating companies (both Sinar Mas business units and external companies);
- Administrators and event operations staff who manage the platform.
SMDD Biz Connect is an invitation-only platform for business participants. It is not a consumer service and is not open to the general public.

2.1 Company and Contact Information
Provided by you during onboarding, or imported from your event registration:

- Business priorities and partnership preferences
- Optional details such as competitive advantage, capability information, and the profile of a partner you are looking for
- Company address, province, city, and country

2.2 Information Generated by Your Use of the Platform

- Meeting room bookings, partnership requests, acceptances, and rejections
- Delivery status of emails and WhatsApp messages we send you
2.3 Technical Information

What We Do Not Collect. We do not collect payment card details, bank account numbers, government identity numbers, precise location data, biometric data, health data, or any other category of sensitive personal data. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your company profile on the platform.
- To generate partner recommendations by comparing your profile with other participants (see Section 4).
- To let you connect with other participants, including sending and receiving partnership requests and booking meeting rooms.
- To send you service notifications by email and WhatsApp, such as sign-in links, meeting confirmations and reminders, and partnership updates (see Section 5).
- To operate, secure, and support the platform, including troubleshooting, preventing misuse, and keeping a record of administrative actions.
- To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
Our legal bases are your consent, given when you complete your profile and accept these terms, and the performance of the event participation arrangement between your company and Sinar Mas.
Automated Matchmaking and AI
SMDD Biz Connect estimates how well two companies might fit as business partners. The result combines straightforward comparison of the choices you make in your profile with AI-assisted analysis of the text you write about your products and business focus. The AI-assisted part is carried out by a third-party AI service provider engaged by us under contract. Please note:
- Recommendations are suggestions only. They do not create any obligation and do not decide anything on your behalf.
- You always choose whether to contact, accept, or ignore a recommended partner.
- Your data is not used to train third-party artificial intelligence models.
- Administrators may adjust how recommendations are generated, or manually hide or add a pairing, for legitimate event operations reasons. Those actions are recorded.
Email and WhatsApp Messages
We contact you in two ways.
Email. We send sign-in links and service notifications to the business email address in your profile.
WhatsApp. We use the WhatsApp Business Platform, operated by Meta Platforms, to send service notifications to the WhatsApp number in your profile. Where you provide or confirm your WhatsApp number during registration or onboarding, you consent to receiving these service-related messages through WhatsApp.
- We send transactional messages only — for example meeting confirmations, reminders, partnership notifications, and event logistics. We do not send advertising or promotional broadcasts unrelated to the event.
- You can stop receiving WhatsApp messages at any time by replying STOP, by blocking the number in WhatsApp, or by emailing us at the address in Section 12. Stopping WhatsApp messages does not remove your account; we will continue to reach you by email where necessary.
- When you message us on WhatsApp, Meta processes that message under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive your WhatsApp number, your profile name as set in WhatsApp, and the content of the messages you send us.
How We Share Information
6.1 With Other Participants
This is the core purpose of the platform. Your company profile may be visible to other participants on the platform. Contact details of your designated contact person are shared only with participants you are matched or connected with through the platform. Do not enter information in your profile that you are not willing to share with other participants.
6.2 With Service Providers
We engage a small number of service providers to operate the platform. They process data only on our instructions, under contract, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
| Type of Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cloud infrastructure and hosting providers | Running the platform and storing data securely |
| Artificial intelligence service provider | Producing partner recommendations and their explanations |
| Email delivery provider | Sending sign-in links and service notifications |
| Meta Platforms | Delivering messages through the WhatsApp Business Platform |
You may request the identity of the providers we currently use by contacting us at the address in Section 12.
6.3 Other Disclosures
We may disclose information where required by law, court order, or a valid request from a government authority, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of participants, Sinar Mas, or the public.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
International Transfers
Our service providers may store or process data on servers located outside Indonesia. Where data is transferred outside Indonesia, we engage providers that offer a level of protection consistent with UU PDP and we put appropriate contractual safeguards in place.
How Long We Keep Your Information
- Profile and matchmaking data is kept for the duration of the SMDD Biz Connect programme. When the programme ends, we delete or anonymise it, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Security and audit records are kept only for as long as they are needed for security, troubleshooting, and legal compliance, and are then deleted.
- Message delivery records are kept for the duration of the programme for support and troubleshooting purposes.
You may ask us to delete your data earlier — see Section 9.
Your Rights
Under UU PDP you have the right to:
- Obtain information about how your personal data is processed;
- Access and obtain a copy of your personal data;
- Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Request deletion of your personal data;
- Withdraw your consent;
- Object to processing and to automated decision-making;
- Request that your data be transferred to another controller, where technically feasible;
- Lodge a complaint with the competent authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in Section 12. We will verify your identity and respond within 14 working days. Some data may need to be retained where the law requires it, and we will tell you if that is the case.
Please note that withdrawing consent or deleting your profile will remove you from the matchmaking pool, and you will no longer receive recommendations, meeting invitations, or event notifications.
Security
We protect your information using measures including encrypted connections, sign-in without a reusable password, restricted and role-based access for administrators, and logging of sensitive administrative actions. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we hold.
If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify you and the competent authority as required by UU PDP.
Children
SMDD Biz Connect is intended for business representatives aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
